TEAM

Boox is an eco-conscious packaging company offering reusable, customizable boxes and bags as an environmentally friendly alternative to single-use cardboard, thereby advocating for a circular economy.

I was tasked to develop the brand’s first style guide to be used for internal and external brand partnerships; boost the brand’s visibility through an improved social media presence; and create a diverse sample packaging kit for the Boox product line as a sales tool, showcasing design and sizing capabilities for potential customers.

Design Approach

PROCESS

I established the start-up’s inaugural set of style guidelines by drawing inspiration directly from the product itself, utilizing existing brand elements, and conveying the company's personality, accessibility, and whimsy. The use of circles symbolized reuse and renewal as well as the circular economy, and the rectangles and curves to represent the product shape. Focusing on organization, grid systems, color coordination, and type hierarchy to ensure simplicity, clarity, and consistency in tone. These guidelines are also shared internally for cohesion and with external partners for brand collaboration purposes.

The primary aim of this project was to actively engage with potential customers, in order to foster understanding and interest through interaction with a new, innovative product. The goal was to establish and advocate for integration of eco-friendly practices for the social and financial benefits of clients’ brands, while subsequently boosting Boox’s sales revenues. To inform our strategy, I conducted thorough research, examining sample box kits from various packaging companies to glean insights from both successful and unsuccessful approaches. Drawing inspiration from the client's needs and anticipated modes of interaction, I aimed to spark curiosity and excitement, educate, and display design potential while also remaining true to our zero waste policies. Initially branded as Boox, we later transitioned to personalized brand designs so customers feel themselves in the product and witness the versatility. These design iterations served as templates for subsequent designers, informing the creation of motion graphic assets for the website, as demonstrated above.

In order to connect with a growing audience on social media, I crafted templates, refined visual promotional messages, and introduced fresh design aesthetics. Given our company's commitment to reuse, I innovatively translated the concept into visual form, akin to collage. As a result, a series of digital collages were developed to captivate and communicate effectively.

OUTCOME
